Asset-based, family-owned trucking out of Hartford, Wisconsin. Dry vans, flatbeds, step decks, and Conestogas moving freight across the Midwest.

Asset-based. Family-owned. Hartford, WI.
Laufer Trucking is an asset-based, family-owned Wisconsin trucking company hauling freight across the Midwest with dry vans, flatbeds, step decks, and Conestogas. We own our trucks and trailers, employ our own drivers, and dispatch every load from our Hartford, WI headquarters.
That means when you call us for a quote, you're talking to the carrier that's actually going to move the freight — not a broker reselling someone else's capacity.
Our fleet covers the four trailer types that handle the vast majority of Midwest freight. Each equipment type has its own page with more detail:
53' dry vans for general freight across the Midwest — palletized goods, packaged consumer products, and dock-to-dock loads.
48' and 53' open flatbeds for steel, building materials, machinery, and anything that won't fit inside a van.
Drop-deck trailers for taller loads that won't legally clear on a flat — equipment, tanks, and bulky machinery.
Curtain-side trailers that protect flatbed freight from the weather while keeping side-load access for forklifts.
Three things, mostly.
We own the trucks and trailers and employ the drivers. No brokering your load to whoever's cheapest this week.
Independent and Hartford-run for decades — no private-equity owner, no out-of-state HQ, no offshore call center.
Quote and freight inquiries back in 15 minutes during business hours. If anything changes on the road, you hear it from us first.
We spot a Laufer trailer at your facility and you load on your own schedule — a few pallets at a time, over a full shift, even up to 24 hours. When it's full, we pull it and drop the next one. No driver waiting on your dock, no scrambling for capacity.
It also doubles as overflow staging space: if your floor is tight, the trailer itself absorbs the extra pallets while you're building the load.
"We work around your operation, not the other way around. The big national carriers won't park a trailer at your Hartford dock and wait on your schedule. We will."
Based in Hartford, Wisconsin — about 35 miles northwest of Milwaukee — running Wisconsin and the surrounding Midwest as our primary footprint.
Laufer Trucking, Wacker Drive Logistics, and LT2 Logistics each operate independently — but they share the same ownership, the same values, and the same commitment to doing what they say they're going to do.
Whatever your freight needs, chances are the right solution is under this roof.
